New Opportunities in Wellingborough!!

We are looking to recruit volunteers in the Wellingborough area! Age Concern will be opening a charity shop, selling donated furniture, books & bric-a-brac (no clothes). The volunteer role will comprise of accepting & sorting donations, cleaning & polishing, operating the till & maintaining excellent customer relations.

The 2nd opportunity will be based within the charity shop in Wellingborough. We need volunteers to act as the link between the public & the Service Advice team in Northampton. Volunteers will be able to source information from the website, download factsheets & refer to Age Concern Head Office via the telephone, fax or e-mail. Volunteers must be able to work independently & have an understanding of the issues facing older peole.

Each year the Department for Works and Pensions publishes estimates of the take-up of income-related benefits. The latest edition indicates that up to £5 billion of Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit was unclaimed by pensioners in 2006-07. As part of our Your Rights Campaign Age Concerns across the Country have been talking to older people about the help they get from Age Concern Information & Advice services.
